The caliph and the subjects – the mission of the regime in Iran
Ideologues from Russia and Iran see democracy as detrimental for human societies. The regime in Iran favors the model of a caliphate, where individuals have no rights and are regarded as subjects who must be obedient to the Caliph and his institutions. They threaten freedom on various levels. They use hybrid warfare methods to polarize the Western societies and create chaos. How do they do that? How can we protect our open societies?

Afshin Sajedi shares some thoughts on why Western policymakers should delve deeper into historical facts and take serious the creation of new ideologies. He mentions the Russian philosopher Alexandr Dugin, whose ideology is close to the ideology of the regime in Iran. In a future series of interviews, we will take a closer look at it.
